About the position

Narromine Shire Council is seeking a qualified and experienced person to join the organisation in the position of Team Member - Utilities.

The primary objective of this position is, under the supervision of the Manager Utilities, Technical Officer and Networks Team Leader, to ensure the operations and maintenance of the Narromine, Trangie and Tomingley Water and Wastewater networks and treatment plants is carried out to Council’s adopted policies and in accordance with industry regulations.

To be successful in this position you will need to have:

  • Hold or be undertaking a certificate 3 in Water Industry Operations
  • Hold or be prepared to undertake the NSW Water Directorate Blue and Brown Card Industry Inductions
  • Strong working knowledge of water treatment, filtration systems and networks
  • Have a thorough understanding of the principals of Water and Wastewater sampling and testing techniques
  • Have a strong working knowledge of sewage treatment processes, pumping station systems and collection networks
  • Have a basic understanding of Australian Wastewater Guidelines and Effluent re-use schemes
  • Sound working knowledge of Clear SCADA Telemetry Systems
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills
  • HR Class Drivers Licence.
  • General Construction Induction (CIC – White Card) NSW
  • RTA Road Traffic Controllers Certificate– “Blue Card”
  • RTA Apply Traffic Control Plans – “Yellow Card”
  • High level of computer literacy, including the Microsoft Office Suite of programs.
  • Asbestos Awareness certificate
  • Confined Spaces and Working at Heights qualifications
  • Hold Low Voltage Switchboard Rescue qualifications
  • Hold certification in safe operation of High-Pressure Water Jetting Equipment
  • Hold a forklift Licence

It will be desirable for you to have: 

  • Hold a Certificate 2 in Water Industry Operations
  • Hold or be prepared to undertake the DPE Water- Water and Sewer Operator Certifications Parts 1 and 2
  • Current First Aid certificate
  • Backhoe/loader competency and experience

The details relating to this position are:

  • The position is graded 7 within Council's salary structure
  • The salary range is from $62'596.96 to $70,753.43 per annum plus superannuation. The salary step is determined by an annual competency assessment. 
  • 38 hour working week applies. NSC has a RDO system whereby every second Monday is a rostered day off.
  • Participation in the on-call roster which attracts additional allowances.
  • Employment conditions are as per the Local Government (State) Award
