The Western Councils Water Alliance (WCWA) brings together 13 member councils from Central West and Western NSW, working collaboratively to deliver sustainable water supply and sewerage services to our communities. By pooling resources, reducing duplication, and driving innovation, the WCWA provides strong advocacy and practical solutions for its members.

We are looking for motivated and skilled professionals to join our team in two part-time roles – with the potential to combine them into one dynamic position for the right candidate.

 

Role 1: Project Officer – Western Councils Water Alliance

Part-time (17.5–21 hours per week)
Contract to June 2028

In this role, you will provide high-level administrative and project support to the WCWA, helping coordinate member councils and deliver on shared priorities for water and sewer infrastructure and service delivery. You’ll be the central point of contact ensuring the smooth operation of the Alliance.

You’ll bring:

  • Qualifications or experience in business administration, project management, or similar.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in administrative or stakeholder coordination roles.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Contract administration experience and knowledge of relevant legislation.
  • A current driver’s licence.

Highly regarded:

  • Understanding of local government operations.
  • Experience with formal meetings, agenda/minute preparation, and business papers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, electronic records systems, and desktop publishing.
  • Strong research skills.

Role 2: Project Officer – Water Efficiency

Part-time (0.5 FTE, 2.5 days per week)
1-year contract

This role focuses on supporting local water utilities (LWUs) across the WCWA region to embed water efficiency and water loss management practices into everyday operations. Working with the WCWA, CNSWJO, and the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water, you’ll help deliver projects that strengthen long-term water security.

You’ll bring:

  • Qualifications or experience in project management or business administration.
  • Strong document preparation and digital systems skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities.
  • A track record of managing multiple priorities independently.
  • A current driver’s licence.

Highly regarded:

  • Knowledge of local government procedures and water utilities.
  • Experience in grant writing, media releases, or contract management.
  • Understanding of the local government Integrated Planning & Reporting (IP&R) framework.
