About the position

Narromine Shire Council is currently seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual for the position of Apprentice Groundskeeper.

This position is funded under the NSW Governments ‘Fresh Start for Local Government Apprentices, Trainees, and Cadets Program’.

 The successful applicant will be required to undergo a structured apprenticeship program, gaining valuable qualifications in sports field turf management

including mowing, topdressing, fertilizing, irrigation, and pest control.

To be successful in this position you will need to have:

  • Willingness and capacity to undertake studies to Cert IV level.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

It would be desirable for you to have:

  • Completed the HSC
  • Class ‘C’ drivers’ licence – including CP1/2
  • General Construction Induction (CIC – White Card) NSW

The details relating to this position are:

  • The position is graded Operational Band 1/T7 to T10 as per Local Government State Award 
  • The salary range is $1042 to $1194 per week plus superannuation. The salary step is determined by an annual competency assessment.
  • 38 hour working week applies.  NSC has a RDO system whereby every second Monday is a rostered day off. 
  • Employment conditions are as per the Local Government (State) Award

Pre-employment screening

  • Reference checks from your 2 work related referees
  • Any other additional screening that may be relevant to the role
  • Council will check the authenticity of certificates and qualification
