About the position

Narromine Shire Council are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced candidate to assist the Recreational Services Supervisor in the efficient operation of the Narromine Sport and fitness centre. . 

The objective of this position is to ensure a high standard of customer service to clientele and advice to all sports centre users and patrons.

Implement and manage sporting competitions using the stadium (eg. Indoor netball, soccer, basketball competitions) to be running ongoing throughout the year – success could expand into outdoor competitions such as touch football/oztag, school holiday programs etc.

Work with sporting clubs and local schools to consider other opportunities for sporting provision within the shire with an aim to increase participation of the community.

Show potential members through gym facilities – assist members with using equipment safely – induct members.

Recruit contracted staff to run fitness classes and training sessions using the gymnasium facilities.

Assist with Life Guard duties if required at Councils Swimming Pools.

 To be successful in this position you will need to have

  • Certificate in Sports Science or Equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience in customer service
  • High Level verbal communication skills for managing telephone and personal contact with members of the public
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a busy environment under limited supervision
  • Cash handling experience
  • Class ‘C’ Drivers Licence.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Cash handling experience.
  • Knowledge of relevant WHS policies and procedures
  • Current First Aid / CPR certificate

 It will be desirable for you to have: 

  • Hazardous Substances Handling Certificate
  • Experience in establishing and managing a budget.
  • Knowledge of the requirements for guidelines for safe pool operation
  • Lifeguard certification

 The details relating to this position are:

  • The position is graded 8 within Council's salary structure
  • The salary range is from $1007.47 to $1139.86 per 35 hour week. The salary step is determined by an annual competency assessment. 
  • Narromine Shire Council will pay a further 9.5% superannuation to your super fund
  • 35 hour working week applies.
  • Employment conditions are as per the Local Government (State) Award
